The weather forecast kept teasing us as Thursday approached. Isolated rain showers. Sixty percent chance of rain. Yikes.
We decided to go anyway.
And hoped that the 10AM downpour with thunder and lightning was the worst it was going to be and that the skies would clear up.
Thankfully they did and one hour north on the Gatineau River the skies were clear. For the first time we were able to snag the island campsite nearest the dock and discovered why it was so popular. Smooth rocks to lie on. A nice safe deep diving area. Four flat areas for tents. An outhouse. A campfire area and grill. Beautiful vistas. A gentle breeze. And on this first week of August – no bugs.
