Orleans doesn’t have much to choose from by way of restaurants and if the Pearl of India on Montreal Rd. is in any way reflective of the dining experience in the area, it would explain why. We were sadly disappointed in both the service and the quality of the food.
The list of negatives includes:
- the wrong appetizer was brought out.
- one of the reasons we visited the Pearl was that it had a coupon in our soon to expire Entertainment Book and we wanted to take advantage of it. We had the book and coupon sitting in plain sight from the moment we sat down. When we received our main course, we were informed the coupon could not be used on our particular meal. It would have been nice to have been told that earlier.
- there was a long black hair in the rice dish
- both the appetizer and main dishes included lettuce and a sweet thousand island dressing. That’s fine if I’m going to a bar but not something I expect at an Indian restaurant.
- Indian sauces should be rich and creamy. The tandoori sauce in our shrimp plate was thin and watery.
Overall, a disappointing meal and not a restaurant we’ll ever be going back to.
Making monsters is Dr. Nutt’s specialty. Her best creations are the Yummy Mummy, the Boogie-Woogie Man, and her masterpiece, Dracula-la-la! who loves to sing Opera music. It’s music to Dr. Nutt’s ears, but the villagers don’t like the idea of singing vampires roaming around their town. When they storm her laboratory they are in for a pleasant surprise.
