It’s probably fitting that on the day that 34-year Australian Cadel Evans won the ITT to overtake Andy Shleck and move into first place on the penultimate day of the Tour de France – we had our own little family Tour d’Orleans.
Originally I was going to explore an old railway bed that apparently has been turned into a gravel cycling and running path just south of Blackburn Hamlet off Anderson Rd. but Sam really wanted to go too so Aline decided to join us and make it a family outing. Save
With Hazel on the third wheel attachment and Sam in the backseat carrier, we found the entrance with no problem. But the exit we were looking for at Page Rd. didn’t exist and we cycled all the way to 10th Rd. and headed up to Innes where we stopped at Sports Experts for a little while so the kids could play in the camping section while I looked at bike computers and then headed home for lunch.
All told – we were probably cycling somewhere between 2-3 hours. Hazel seemed to flag a little in the middle of it and when I asked her later she said it was too long but she did seem to enjoy it for the most part.
