Fire at our old condo unit

ImageNewspaper reports indicate no one was hurt after a five-alarm blaze ripped through the Gramercy Park condo complex at 237 Lyon St. while its residents slept early Monday morning.

Forty residents were evacuated at 4 a.m. as the flames spread through the 13-unit complex at the corner of Lyon and Laurier Ave.

It took 70 firefighters in 12 pumpers and five aerial trucks two hours to knock down the blaze, which began in one of the centre condos. One firefighter suffered from heat exhaustion and smoke inhalation.

Several of the 13 units were too dangerous to enter, the roof caved in and stairwells separated from the walls.

Wow. If we were still at 285-Nepean we would have seen the devestation from our front window.
