Hazel and I were playing Dr. Seuss’ I Can Do That boardgame this afternoon and it occurred to me as I had to wiggle under the thinga-ma-stick with a styrofoam cake under my right arm – that the month of January was almost over and Aline hadn’t yet baked a cake. So I sent Hazel downstairs with a mission:
Hazel (following instructions from dad): Mummy! Daddy says you should bake a cake.
Hazel (following instructions from mum): Daddy! Mummy says she’d like you to clean the bathroom.
Hazel (following instructions from dad): Mummy! We agree to your terms!
It should be pointed out that Hazel wisely misunderstood my last instructions the first time and replied: Daddy will do it!
