I try to keep politics out of this site but I came across this and felt it hit the nail on the head regarding the never ending strife between Palestine and Israel.

Earl of Sussex 2013-14 PDF Print E-mail

Another successful hockey pool season as my Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry combo helped propel to victory in our Earl of Sussex pool. Good battle between Rick and I as eh caught me briefly in January and then again in early March where he opened up a 30-point lead after astute pickups of Ryan Miller and Ryan McDonaugh at the trade deadline but a few injuries fell his way, my guys caught fire again and I made a few final roster moves of my own to win handily by 30 points.

In my inaugural season in Donald's pool I won the first two months and then coasted to the Mr. Hockey title the rest of the way.

Funny the things you notice. E's standard rice dish wasn't in the staff fridge this morning.

And so the axe fell again yesterday. This time on the President of the Company who will be replaced by his US counterpart who will manage all North America. A man who was the company's first hired employee and helped it grow over 25 years. Gone. Just a speck of dust. Another business decision that wasn't personal. It never is of course. It's always for the good of the company. DK announced the news in a group meeting at noon. And then we just went on with our day like nothing had happened.

And I'm supposed to go around thinking how wonderful integration is.

Marriage prospects PDF Print E-mail

Sam crawled into bed with us this morning and somehow the conversation turned to who he's going to marry when he's older:

Sam: I'm going to marry Jessie! (His older first cousin)

Me: Uh no. You can't marry your cousin.

Sam: I'm going to marry Hazel! (His sister)

Me: Uh no. You can't marry your sister.

Sam: I'm going to marry Twig (Our cat)

Me: Nope. Not gonna happen.

Sam: Oh right, I can't marry Twig. He's a . . . . boy.

Me laughing uncontrollably: No, that's not the problem.

And so the first round of cuts hits us at work.

The entire IT department and some HR let go. Somehow S and I survived the cuts because we belong to a systems and development pillar instead of an infrastructure pillar. Apparently Nielsen outsources all their IT. Can't say this bodes well for my immediate future but for today anyway I'm more gutted emotionally about friends being shown the door than any possible ramifications this has on me. Save

Apparently Hazel wants to play soccer this summer. Not because she likes soccer. No, she'd like to be able to run faster . . . so she can catch the boys.

Oh my.

And what will she do if she catches them I wonder?

The next time someone asks me what I do - I must remember to direct them to this cartoon. I've never come across anything that better explains what I do for a living. Thanks xkcd.

The optimist expects it to change;

The realist adjusts the sails
